The Grass Is Always Greener...
We're a big happy family, so on Fridays we like to point out something special that our sister has reported in the last week. Other than her crusade to protect hotel guests from skin rashes and microbes.
Our sister comes up with the goods on City Rag's recent trip to Amsterdam and the inherent goodness of the Hotel Krasnapolsky. For those who may not remember, City Rag went as part of a Bloggers in Amsterdam trip sponsored by blogads. Gotta love those Faustian bargains.
Anyway, what of the Krasnapolsky? Well, it was a quality place to stay--though we believe fancy hotels are somewhat pointless in Amsterdam, since the walls will melt no matter where you're staying--with a damn fine bathtub. The room came with a view of the Dam, which is exciting; go there at Christmastime and you'll be mesmerized by the ice skating rink the city puts up there.
Our tip: If you're staying on the Dam, go to the Jordaan instead of the red light district or the walking Kalverstraat. It's got some authentic old school Dutch bars (Café `t Smalle is fab) that are way more fun than the many, many tourist traps littering Amsterdam. Availing yourself of the city's other entertainments--we'll leave you to make those decisions solo.
