Live Rude Girls

First of all, we want to say that we are one-hundred percent against keeping women prominently displayed in Plexiglass boxes as part of hotel décor. Don't the ladies have enough problems already with the glass ceiling?

Hello? Ouch, tough crowd.

Anyway, our stern, yet gentle sister has all the dirt on the girl-in-a-box at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood. Surprising that it would  be in L.A., when Times Square was the epicenter of the girl-behind-Plexiglass phenomenon, but thankfully, the Standard does things differently than the Playpen over on 8th Avenue.

Here's how it works: For $70 a night, a hired model sits in a box behind the check-in desk at the Standard. She can do as she pleases, even chat on the phone or use her laptop. She must ignore the clientele in the lobby, not make direct eye contact, and she can wear only white.

Come to think of it, we knew a lot of bartenders like that.
