A t-shirt with a cornball saying or strange picture is the birthright of every tourist, but until a few years ago, options in India were more or less limited to completely generic or inappropriate designs. Female Body Inspector, anyone?

Sensing an opportunity, a couple of college friends decided to create Tantra to fill the empty space that lay between traditional "ethnic" wear and T-shirts with Coca-Cola's logo plastered on them. Because Tantra keeps pumping out new designs, you can be reasonably sure that the shirt you buy won't also be on the backs of the next five Goa stoners you see, either.  

The shirts, which sell for under $10, are available in many of the state-run Cottage Industries as well as larger stores in urban areas.
