Parties

Parties can be hit or miss, especially bigger ones. Standing in the corner while leering at the other guests with occasional forays for canapés may be our M.O., but it also means the party could be better. Still, we like those kind of shindigs better than the gigantic Carnival-type morasses.
Nonetheless, we were intrigued at this mention of the Goodiwindi Plucked Duck B & S Ball in a Times of London article on great parties. A black tie event in the Australian Outback, it's 3,000 young Aussies drinking and dancing their hearts out for a whole weekend; B & S stands for Bruce and Sheila. Package deals for anyone else who wants to experience the event often include the rental of a camper van. Maybe bringing some ibuprofen might a good idea as well.
American prom committees could learn a little something from the Plucked Duck ball. Forget a hotel or a limo ride afterwards--have your date experience the romance of a camper van.
