Terror Comes to Tiny Town

We've never been fans of Hummel figurines, or any other fancy miniatures, although we do own a lot of Micro Machines. And, if we were looking for a park to race our Micro Machines, it would be Mill Ends Park in Portland, Oregon. It's meant to be the smallest park in the world at 452 square inches in size.

Oregon Journal columnist Dick Fagan planted the park, which was a hole in the sidewalk previously occupied by a light pole, and tended to it from 1946 until his death in 1969. During that time, he milked it for journalistic paydirt, writing weekly column about what happened in the park (hint: It involved leprechauns). It became an official city park in 1976.

Since then, the park has seen the addition of a miniature Ferris wheel and a swimming pool for butterflies. Frankly, we find it rather irritating that there's no parking to be had when the flea circus comes to town.
