Get On Ya Board, Dave

Where: Australia

In the vein of Austrian Manfred Michlits who's running around the whole world rather than getting a proper job, a British guy called Dave has just spent four months traveling across Australia: by skateboard. The 27-year-old only started skateboarding a couple of years ago, but soon decided that setting records was better than sitting at his office desk.

So far he's raised over $25,000 for charity to help, among others, disabled athletes. We're sensing a bit of self-interest in this, because it sounds like Dave will belong in that category before long: apart from an injury requiring 11 stitches, he's also had some overuse problems with this 3000 mile skateboarding jaunt:

Sometimes my feet were so swollen by the end of the day that I couldn't skate the next day, but give it a couple of days and a few antibiotics and I'm back on the board.
Nothing like doing some crazy trip for charity and ending up a charity case yourself: oh well, keep skateboarding, Dave!
