Lake Tahoe Launches (More!) Shuttles

Last month we told you about Lake Tahoe's new transit service, North Lake Tahoe Express. Now that you can take the Express to your hotel from the airport, there's no need to rent a car, right? Well, not exactly. In our pre-season excitement, we forgot that you probably will want to do a little more than ride the slopes, sleep in your room and eat a mediocre breakfast buffet at your hotel.

Not to worry. The transportation junkies in the town of Truckee are starting a new, free, nighttime shuttle service today. The plan is to have it stop at hotels and apres-ski spots around town. (We know, we know, the "apres-ski scene" is sort of '90s. But call it what you will, it's fun to go out drinking after being on the mountain all day.) If you want to get out of Truckee, there are longer distance routes that hop around mountains and towns on the north side of the lake. All the info of course is online.
