Outside Magazine Rounds Up New Low Cost Carriers

November 1, 2006 at 9:56 AM | by | Comments (0)

Outside recently dropped another quarterly issue of Outside Traveler, the magazine's travel-only supplement. We weren't but a few pages in when we found an article by Melinda Mahaffey that echoed our current air travel sentiment: A rundown of ten new low cost carriers and their best routes. (There's even a mention of Oasis Hong Kong Airlines.) The Outside editors must have been out kayaking or hang gliding because they didn't get around to putting the story online, but here are some of the airlines you need to know:

go! gets in on the all-lowercase travel trend, flying pax around the Hawaiian islands for less than an arm and a leg. If they keep rates low, island-hopping in the Pacific will look a lot more appealing.

Avolar Aerolineas recently joined the new crop of Mexican LCCs that include Volaris, Click Mexicana and Interjet. Might want to skip Outside's advice to check out Oaxaca City right now, though.

Jazeera Airways now flies from Kuwait City to a handful of destinations in the Mid East, including everyone's favorite emirate, Dubai. Service to Mumbai is available, so you can follow in the footsteps of some Amazing Racers.
