Often when we talk about Australia we make fun of their passion for Big Things, be they koalas, bananas or slide rules. But this week's big thing is a list of 100 things to do in Australia before you die: this sounds like a good idea.

The Australian Traveller magazine compiled the list using information from travel agents, travel writers and humble travelers themselves. The top 100 includes a number of sights and activities we've come to expect from Down Under: snorkeling or diving on the Great Barrier Reef or visiting Uluru (Ayers' Rock) rate highly, of course. Eating a painted crayfish on Thursday Island, on the other hand, isn't usually on a must-do list. It is now. And if you have a craving to be famous, the Aussies have the perfect event for you:

Yep, those crazy Paul-Hogan-clones down under think one of the ultimate things is to carry a boat down a dry river in the Henley-On-Todd Dry River Boat Regatta. Now that's something to do before you die.
