Slide Into the Tate Gallery

October 11, 2006 at 9:01 AM | by amandak | 0 Comments

The Tate galleries in England get our thumbs up for innovation, thinking for example of Tate Britain's Your Collection brochures that give you some gallery-browsing tips depending on your mood--ranging from the "I've Just Split Up" to the "I'm Hungover" collections.

Now the Tate Modern has given a new dimension to the art gallery experience by installing an exhibition with five giant slides. The biggest spirals 180 feet down five floors of gallery space, and the artist describes them as a "playground for the body and the brain." Not only that, he thinks slides should be incorporated more into everyday life as a "serious form of transport." Now that's modern thinking.
