Rust Belt Rampage

Just like Jerome Bettis--word on the street is that the man is secretly from Detroit--our Super Bowl XL coverage rumbles on. First, a disclaimer: We want to run some positive things about Detroit, really, we do! So send your Detroit love our way, either in the comments or to tips@jaunted.com. It's not that bleak, people. And if you don't have Detroit love, well, send that anyway.

Our search for pro-Detroit opinion is precisely why we like to hear a little cockiness from the natives now and then. This little nugget comes from Eric Cedo, executive director of nonprofit CreateDetroit, interviewed by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

"We're a lot closer to the lattes and laptops of Seattle than to the Rust Belt of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is what we used to be".

Them's fightin' words! Demolishing the former Motown Records headquarters just shows how committed Detroit is to distancing itself from Pittsburgh.

In other Detroit news, Steeler fans are forgoing the hotels in the Detroit metro area and coming to the game in RVs. Many were rented just hours after the end of the AFC Championship game, and spots for docking the behemoths are filling up fast. Better get there soon, Steeler fans, otherwise you may end up parking in Canada.
