The New 7 Wonders

The New 7 Wonders is a group trying to come up with a new list of amazing structures. Public voting on the places began on the 1st and will continue through the year. The shortlist of places is after the jump -- decisions, decisions.

We are thinking the Pizza Hut Pyramids might not make it this time around.

  • Angkor, Cambodia
  • Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico
  • Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Colosseum, Rome

New 7 Wonders - What a Neat Way to Make Money

Readers might care to take a look at the current (ie. March 2007) issue of hidden europe magazine (http://www.hiddeneurope.co.uk), where there is an article that asks a few pertinant questions about this New 7 Wonders escapade! Is this just a fast way for the Swiss organisers to make money? And might not a modern rendering of the wonders be more than just a listing of tourist hotspots? Those on offer from New 7 Wonders scarcely match the happy ensemble of fair temples and stately sepulchres that featured in the list compiled by Antipater of Sidon in about 140 BC.
