Construction on a mammoth new sports and entertainment center in LA began yesterday. The LA Live Development will be a $1.7 billion project adjacent to the Staples Center that will include a West Coast headquarters for ESPN, Grammy museum, hotel and restaurants.
The project mgrs. are, as usual, overly confident about its success and hope to make it even more ostentatious and annoying then Times Square:
"This will not be known as the Times Square of the West," said City Council President Alex Padilla. "Times Square will be known as the l.a. live of the East."
Good luck with that. We hope you enjoy the smells, neverending noise, confused tourists, chain store conquering and overpriced trinkets LA. Really, it's all yours...
