Get Cheesy at Pierogi Fest 2005

We're feeling Festivus, er festival happy, today at Jaunted and want you to share in the thrill. And hey, it's almost August, what do you have to show for your summer besides a tan and the 5 lbs you packed on from hot dogs? We guarantee there are other ways to gain the same weight at festivals and maybe even see a grown man dressed as an awkward shaped piece of food.

First up, head to Whiting, Indiana (about 25 miles south of Chicago) for Pierogi Fest 2005 this weekend. Those fattening Eastern European dumplings have hit the big time with a three-day festival that includes a polka fest (of course), a parade, more pierogis then you could ever digest and exotic food:

In addition to our local hometown cooks, vendors have traveled from as far away as Cleveland, Florida, and Canada.

Cleveland, really? We recommend sticking with the pierogis. There will also be performances by Mr. Pierogi and the Pieroguettes and a peirogi toss. Seriously, this gig's really popular. They expect about 25,000 this year and we discovered it's randomly got some legit sponsors, or "big cheese", as they say; one an appropriate Trump Casino and Hotel.
