Tomato, Tomahhhto....

Where: Bunol, Spain

Love tomatoes? Love foodfights? Free up your schedule at the end of August and head to the town of Bunol, Spain (about 30 miles from Valencia) for Tomatina: the world's largest tomato fight.

20,000 revelers show annually for the week-long festival leading up to the fight that also has parades, fireworks, food and impromptu street parties. 90,000 pounds of tomatoes get chucked all over the place, then the whole affair moves down to the nearby riverbank where the town has makeshift public showers in place for a spray down.

Sounds like an excuse to re-live our high school cafeteria days all over again--except this time we be the throw-er not the thrown-at. Yeah, we are still in therapy for that one.
