Battle of the Beds
Next time you slip into that Heavenly Bed and drift off to sleep, try to remember what kinds of work someone went to to make it for you. A new study by UCSF has found that the bed battles major hotels are waging-who can get the biggest, comfiest, most extravagant bed-are killing their housekeeping staffs. It takes the maid, on average 14-16 minutes(!) just to make the damn thing each day.
One maid at the Oakland Marriott has to ice her arms after work and take Aleve every night. The study found that "found 3 out of 4 hotel housekeepers experience "very severe" pain." The problem is that they're being forced to clean the same number of rooms per shift as the beds and accessories continue to just grow in size.
We say cut down the rooms per shift and on our end we'll try to be a little neater. Maybe they should make a recoup station with a nice hotel bed for the staff to rest on too.
