Frequent flier elitism isn't what it used to be

December 15, 2005 at 9:10 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Daily Traveler points us to an article that ran in USA Today last week on the current frequent flier program problems: simply put, the airlines are giving away miles like candy, which results in fewer opportunities to actually redeem said miles for free flights. (USA Today's solution: redeem points for things like restaurant meals, instead. Or, hell, candy.)

James Gilden asks the $64,000 question, "Just how elite is elite when everybody else is elite?" It's right up there with, "How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" (Answers: 1) not at all, and 2) we have no freaking clue.)
