Monday night is one of those universal big city going-out wastelands. Tuesday through Saturday, there's guaranteed to be somebody out, and Sunday--well, that's just for alcoholics and rock-stars. But what to do if you're in London for only a few days and it's a Monday and, damn it, you want to drink? Head to The Gardening Club in Covent Garden and prepare to be rocked.

When we went there last week at about 9:30 pm on Monday, we had no idea who all the people boogying down were (okay, maybe grinding is the better term) and, frankly, we couldn't have cared less. We were simply thrilled to be in a bar with more than five people and settled into a corner table with a bottle of white wine.

From what we saw of The Gardening Club, it's actually fairly large, with two floors and a comfy, plush "lounge" room that seemed to turn into makeout central later in the evening. It was hard to differentiate between areas, however, because every square foot was taken over by young dancing fools, shakin' it to 50 Cent and Usher. (Side note: does any place in London actually play house or techno music? Wherever we went, it was Top 40 all the way.)

If you love to dance, enjoy loud, cheesy contemporary pop/R&B and are...mmm...under the age of about 26, you'll probably adore The Gardening Club. Otherwise, head just around the corner to The Langley at 5 Langley Street, where you might actually be able to hold a low-key conversation and avoid a splitting hangover on Tuesday morning.
