Cheap Sleep in U.S. Cities

November 21, 2005 at 9:13 AM | by sedona | 0 Comments

We love when the Times takes a break from its regular stuff to do the seasonal T Style:Travel thing. We admit, we feel a little bit loser-ish when we see that dauntingly cool style bible poking out, but we're always glued to the pages.

This issue has great cheap hotel alternatives in major U.S. cities that are still stylish, and won't cost an arm and a leg. One of these is the Chelsea Lodge, where rooms (at right) start at $114 a night (unheard of in NY!) although you'll share a toilet with the entire floor (they do have some private rooms avail.) The location is great and you can't beat the price.

Another is the Hotel Chopin in Paris where rooms seem to have older furnishings, but wonderfully flattering lighting. They start at $107/night.

Finally, check out the Figueroa in L.A., it's got a "circus-like" Moroccan feel with richly decorated suites and is right downtown. The per night rate is $124.

There, so you can save money and still be quite cool amongst the hipster travel circles.
