Masters of the Universe Pick St. Reg as Favorite Hotel

From Amy Langfield's New Yorkology comes word that the bankers' mag Institutional Investor has named New York's St. Regis the best hotel in the world. Other top rankings include the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme (best in Europe) and the Four Seasons Singapore (best in Asia).


If you value consistency, then the following hotels have gotten on the best list every year since 1981: "the Oriental in Bangkok; the Berkeley, London; Claridge's, London; Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong; and the Shangri-La, Singapore." The  Peninsula in Hong Kong has a near-perfect score: it went off the list just once, in 2003, post-SARS.
