Tom Cruise Tries to Buy His Way Out of the Doghouse

Where: Paris, France
April 26, 2006 at 12:26 PM | by | Comments (0)

Looks like Tom Cruise is in no rush to hurry home to Katie and baby Sushi. Whoops, we mean Snoopy. No, wait, Suri. He's been to Paris promoting Mission Impossible III, and we hear he skipped out on a scheduled press junket today. To rush home, you ask? Nope.

Cruise bailed to hit up the neighborhood's swankiest boutiques, and bought some new French ensembles for his new daughter. L.Ron forbid that she wears anything twice. We think he should probably get a little something for the Mrs. too, considering he hopped from the delivery room to his private jet in no time at all. She may have been silent during the birth, but he has some serious silent treatment to look forward to upon his return.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie's Paris: Up in Smoke

Where: Paris, France
March 22, 2006 at 8:42 AM | by | Comments (0)

Seems that the Parisian love of smooth, rich cancer sticks has driven a teensy spike between Brad and Angelina (a.k.a. the super world travelers). There's enough tension between the two that we were inspired to their names as separate words!

After reports that Angelina asked Brad to quit smoking for mohawked Maddox and Zahara's sake, it seems Brad responded in the way we all do on an extended vacation: cave to temptation. He was spotted hanging out the window of the pair's Paris apartment puffin' away contentedly. Angelina was nowhere to be found. Well, you know what they say, when in Paris do like the Parisians.

White Night in Paris

Where: Paris, France
September 26, 2005 at 3:06 PM | by | Comments (0)

Jet over to Paris on Oct. first when the city stays awake all night long for its annual White Night, er Nuit Blanche, celebration.

For this one night almost every single institution throughout the city stays open for the entire evening (including restaurants, libraries, swimming pools, museums, etc) and Paris is divided into five areas where exhibits, concerts and shows are put on.

The best part of it all? The whole thing's free. And a massive fireworks show keeps the night bright and exciting.

Grand Palais Reopens

Where: Paris, France
September 22, 2005 at 9:46 AM | by | Comments (0)

Paris' Grand Palais has reopened, after a 12 year, $85 million renovation, and reportedly looks amazing. The steel and glass exhibition hall, originally built for the 1900 World's Fair, was suffering with structural ailments and closed in 1993.

Visitors can check it out now and get a chance to see two oversized 17th century globes which were commissioned by the Sun King Louis XIV. The globes depict the known earth and stars at the time of their construction and weigh two tons each.

The Grand Palais will now be used for exhibitions, fashion shows, art and music salons and tv broadcasts.

Paris, Tres Cheap

Where: Paris
July 21, 2005 at 12:38 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're itching to hit up Paris, and don't have $1,000 to blow on a trip, you're just in time.

Frommer's highlights some trips-one a five-night air & hotel package for just $549-guaranteed to save you some Euros. France Vacations is where it's at if you want to get there cheaply before August 31st. They also offer a shorter three-day shopping spree in Paris package.

GoToday also has a "Paris Getaway" good for three-nights in Sept.-Oct. that starts at $539 per person. Some of the hotels are of the less-than-stellar three-star variety, but locations are prime.

Quel deals! Get to Paris! (Just don't propose on top of the Eiffel Tower-soooooo passe....)
