In the sunny coastal town of Coffs Harbour, midway between Brisbane and Sydney, there's a 36-foot long canary-yellow banana. But it's not advertised as the World's Largest Banana or the Super-Massive-Gigantic Banana--not at all. The Aussies are an uncomplicated folk, and call it simply the Big Banana.

In fact, anybody's who's stumbled around Down Under for awhile will have come across something big. Nobody can explain why Aussies love to create incredibly oversized pieces of fruit, crocodiles or wine bottles. Perhaps it's something to do with having all that empty space to fill?

Whatever the reason, a humble Big Things website collects over 140 of them, ready for your touring pleasure. So when you go to the Big Land Down Under, take your wide angle lens and a healthy sense of the ridiculous.
