Inspired by the brief Amazing Race touchdown in Muscat, Oman, during last night's episode--the city universally impressed the racers as they sped away from it at top speed--we thought we'd check it out on Flickr. More on the country itself tomorrow, but here's a teaser pic from SaLMan.UTD's photostream. Pretty sleek, no?

Daily Candy takes us to Oman, the Middle Eastern gem that's been almost completely untouched by high-rise hotels, is beautiful and still maintains some deep tradition.

They recommend visiting between Oct. and April to avoid the too-hot times of year and to start your stay at The Chedi in Muscat (above). The Chedi is right on the Boushar Beachfront, and each of the 151 rooms has access to infinity pools, a private beach and water gardens.

Explore the marketplace of Muscat and haggle to your heart's delight. Then check out the Wahiba Sands, one of Oman's 'fabled' deserts. You can snag a sand dune 4x4 ride alongside Bedouins and camels pretty easily.
