U2 Cancels Their US Tour; Go to These Live Music Festivals Instead

Thanks to a herniated disc that caused Bono to have emergency surgery at Ludwig Maximilians-University (LMU) Hospital in Munich two weeks ago, U2 has canceled the North American leg of their 360 Tour this summer. If you're like us and had planned your summer around the tour, we have a few ideas for your back up plan.
Bonnaroo
Tennessee's largest music and arts festival, Bonnaroo, gives you the opportunity to see Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, Conan O'Brien, Damian Marley & Nas, Tori Amos, Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers plus dozens more all in one weekend, which more than makes up for missing one U2 show. The festival takes place on June 10-13 in Manchester, TN. General Admission tickets start at $234.50.

East Rutherford: The Top Three Coolest Concerts Coming to New Meadowlands Stadium

Unless the New York Jets somehow make it to the conference championship game against the Baltimore Ravens, professional football is over at Giants Stadium. Saying adios to the old place at the Meadowlands is fine by us, because that allows for the New Meadowlands Stadium to swing open its doors. There’s a lot to do before the NFL 2010 football kickoff, but to get things started there will be plenty of summer fun.
Here’s some of the concerts that you might want to add to your calendar, because you know you want to be one of the first inside new stadium.
The Top Three Anticipated Concerts at the New Meadowlands, after the jump

Dublin: In the Name of Love: Three Must-See U2 Landmarks in Dublin

Dublin is a mecca for U2 fans for obvious reasons---it is where the band formed, got their start and where most of the band's members still call home. Thus, the city is full of U2 landmarks. Here are our suggestions for the ones you can't miss.
Where to Stay:
The Clarence Hotel, 6-8 Wellington Quay, is the place to stay for U2 fans because it is owned by Bono and The Edge. The hotel is nice and the bar is popular, even with locals, but the stand out feature of The Clarence is the possibility of running into celebrities. When the band is in town they frequent the hotel for meetings and parties. It is also the place to stay for American celebrities in town doing press or filming. The hotel's prices are affordable too as standard rooms start around €179.

Tickets for U2's 360 Tour are now hard to come by as shows in Europe and the U.S. sold out in less than 30 minutes. Don't get anxious quite yet though, as there is still hope for die hard fans who missed their chance at tickets the first time around.
U2 has been auctioning off (RED) Zone tickets on Ticketmaster to the highest bidder with part of the proceeds going to Bono's Product (Red) charity. The (RED) Zone seats are on the floor to the left and right of the stage and come with several VIP perks like a special entrance, built-in seating and access to (RED) Zone-only restrooms, bars and merch booths.
Barcelona: U2's 360 Tour Will Kick Off in Barcelona This June

While some music festivals are dying including Spain's popular Summercase, the U2 360 Tour will certainly bring out thousands of fans in Barcelona on June 30th.
The band will play at Nou Camp Stadium, home to the FC Barcelona football team, before continuing on its European leg of the tour which finishes at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on August 22. Then the US leg will kick off on September 12 at Chicago's Soldier Field with surprisingly affordable ticket prices, too.
Tickets for some tour dates are currently on presale today through Thursday but the presale for the Barcelona concert has ended. Similarly, a lot of other shows are already sold-out and random ticket sites have already begun offering tickets for exorbitant prices. Still, we bet U2 will release more tickets as the dates get closer.
If you're planning on seeing U2 in Barcelona, the Nou Camp stadium can be reached from the heart of Barcelona (about three miles away) via the Metro or Bus. And while Barcelona has plenty of cool hotels, we personally have to recommend the Hotel Omm situated along the city's swank Paseo de Gracia. Currently rooms are going for 240 Euros from June 29-July 1.
Related Stories:
· U2 360 Tour [Official Site]
· U2's Secret Gig at Fordham University [Jaunted]

New York: U2's Secret Gig at Fordham University

The Courant also reports that professors have been asked to cancel all Friday morning classes for security reasons though the University and ABC refuse to confirm the concert.
The Fordham University event may only be a rumor at this point but we know for certain the band will be appearing on "The Late Show with David Letterman" every night this week.
