Avoid Holiday Travel And Score Deals Like The Bahamas For Under $250

Before you settle in for a long winter's nap, it's time for a warm-weather getaway. Travelzoo's offering a dirt-cheap package to the Bahamas where you'll get airfare and five nights at a hotel for $229.
You'll stay at Our Lucaya Reef Village in Grand Bahama Island. The hotel has a Vegas-style casino where you can blow the money you would have spent on full-price airfare and hotel, as well as two golf courses and four pools. But the most important amenity is that this resort sits right on the beach.
The deal's good for travel through December 19 and from January 3 to 31. We recommend that you avoid visiting during November, as it's still hurricane season in the Bahamas. Travelzoo warns that it'll take forever if you book this over the phone. A lot of people are taking advantage of this package and are jamming up the lines. So go the easy route by booking it online using promo code 500GBI and make sure you do it before November 25.
Related Stories:
· Caribbean Beach Overrun by Family of Cute Pigs [Jaunted]
· Save The Planet and Work on Your Tan At The Same Time [Jaunted]

Summer May Be Over, But Off-Season Deals Are Just Beginning

Let's collectively take a moment to mourn the end of summer, a season rich with getaways and celebrations like last weekend's definitive season-ender, Labor Day. While the masses file back to reality, we're not convinced that summer's close has to put a violent halt to our travel plans. If anything, the end of summer marks the beginning of off-season deals, which we gladly welcome to pocket some extra cash.
Keeping tabs on Travelzoo's Twitter feed is a smart way to stay wise to travel discounts which pop up from time to time, whether you're planning an overseas trip or are firmly in staycation mode. We found a couple that are worth noting, including a host of ticket discounts for everything from Mets games to two-for-one tickets to see Hairspray, if you happen to be in London.

Rio de Janeiro: Head To Rio's Copa, Copacabana Over Labor Day For $599

And only $599 for a four-day trip with airfare, hotel and breakfast included? We'll be there with yellow feathers in our hair and a dress cut down to there.
Vacation-planning/tour-guide company Gate 1 teamed with Travelzoo to run the holiday special, which includes round-trip airfare from New York City to Rio (other departure cities are available, but you have to check with Gate 1). The airline that will swoop you off to Rio depends on availability; we tried booking the package several times and both American Airlines and Delta popped up as our carriers. With taxes and fees (and a "package airfare" charge of $362.44), the final price is $1,068.14.
To take advantage of the deal, you have to start your extended Labor Day vacay on Sept. 3, though you can opt to leave Sept. 10, 17, 24 for an extra $50.

Or at least, it seems that way according to the Down Under Airfare War that keeps on raging.
Travelzoo has just let us know that the United Airlines and Delta have both matched V Australia's recent round-trip sale to Oz from Los Angeles starting at $649. The site recommends booking through their very own Fly.com (of course) but availability was found for departure dates Nov. 1 - Dec. 16 and returning between Nov. 3 - Dec. 21. Remember, that's <strike>Winter</strike> still Spring Down Under. Yet if you want to go before then V Australia has a flight from LA for only $530. And to think two years ago, we paid nearly $2,000 for our ticket on the not-as-cool Qantas.
