San Francisco: It's All About The Trees On San Francisco's Nob Hill

The gardener objected that the tree was slow growing and would not reach maturity for 100 years. The marshall replied, ‘In that case, there is no time to lose; plant it this afternoon!’

San Francisco: Got Milk? The Human Rights Campaign In San Francisco Definitely Has

It also happens to be the former premises of Castro Camera, the shop belonging to Harvey Milk.
Milk, of course, was assassinated in 1978, having being elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors as America’s first openly gay man in public office.
The HRC center has a little bit of everything – from striking campaign stats by the front door of state by state views of same-sex marriage, adoption, and housing laws, and a timeline of gay rights in San Francisco, to various items of clothing and souvenirs of San Francisco – all to a jaunty soundtrack of Madonna.

From Twin Peaks, get 360 degree views of the entire city, taking in the four bridges of San Francisco – from the Golden Gate, past the Richmond-San Rafael and the Bay Bridge right down to the monster San Mateo.
Of course, you also see the Pacific, Alcatraz, Sausalito and the city of San Fran itself.
San Francisco: Let's Go For a Ride! How to Take a San Francisco Cable Car

First off, it's important to understand the difference between the the iconic vintage cars that run on three routes in San Francisco and the trolleys on Market Street. They are easily and frequently confused, but what we're discussing is the former—the cable cars like the pretty open-air ones featured in Rice-A-Roni commercials.
Of course TV shows like Full House helped too, since the cable cars were only restored to safe operating conditions in the late 1980s. These days, you won't find the Olsen twins on one, but you will join a load of tourists all jostling for the best photo position as the cars climb the hills and go from Chinatown to Fisherman's Wharf.
The Guide to Taking the SF Cable Cars, after the jump

As we learned the hard way last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving earned its ominous nickname for good reason. We decided to brave the crowds in San Francisco's Union Square on the busiest shopping day of the year, only to be shoved and given the occasional dirty look by those supposedly bubbling with the spirit of the season.
The madness was due in part to some of the bargains to be had, and the tree lighting ceremony that took place that evening. News vans, families, and tourists from all over elbowed their way past each other to secure a viewing spot, but by 6:30 that night, most decent vantage points were taken and onlookers had to settle for a place on the sidewalks across the street. Standing at the intersection of Powell and Geary that night, our only thought was, "This must be what hell looks like."
Check out the pictures, after the jump!
