Miami Beach: Five Awesome Things You Can Do at Miami's New World Center

Apart from being a new architectural landmark for Miami Beach, the New World Center is a cool place we highly recommend checking out. The building was designed by Frank Gehry and is worth gawking at for that fact alone.
The venue's main role is to be the home of Miami's New World Symphony and its slate of live performances. But even if you don't dig on classical or orchestral music, don't start yawning just yet. You might just like one of other activities the New World Center has going on. For example, you could...
1. Walk Your Dog Through the Park—or Sit and Eat a Sandwich
We love walking our dog here because, unlike Lumus Park down by the beach, it's almost always quiet. The grass is landscaped with little hills and pathways, and there are curved concrete seats to sit on and take five. Sure, you may share the park with the occasional homeless person, but they're usually just catching some zzzs and not bothering anybody. Besides, there is a security guard who rides around on a bike to keep you nice and safe.

Miami: Sit! Stay! It's the Last Weekend to Catch the Incredible Dog Show in Miami

Actual real live dog shows are as hilarious as Christopher Guest's Best in Show would have you believe. But the regional ones that happen year-round have nothing on the Westminster Kennel Club show at the Garden. That's still some months off, but if you're in Miami you can catch something much more action-packed and silly: DOGS: The Show.
This isn't your boring trot-out-the-breeds and judge them in some mysterious process no one can really explain either. Nope, it's under the big top and features dogs jumping, dancing and catching frisbees. Yes, it's a dog circus!
Before you get your animal-rights shackles up, though, you should know that in each city the show visits, it partners with a local organization, in this case the Humane Society of Greater Miami, to promote adopting from a shelter. (Fun fact: shelter dogs are often the easiest to train to do tricks like the ones you'll see in the show. Many have lots of pent-up energy and an overwhelming desire to please.)

Dallas: Proof That Dallas-Love Airport Loves Your Doggy

Happy Friday! Finally, right? It's been a long week, but you're mere hours from the weekend and thus, we thought it proper to celebrate by pointing out that even airports like to have a little fun.
We're specifically thinking of Dallas-Love Field—total Southwest Airlines turf—and their outdoor "dog rest areas." You know what we're talking about—the little plots designated as places for your pets to do their business before and/or after flights.
A friend of Jaunted recently spotted one such area at DAL, complete with the cheeky sign above. For pet owners traveling with their best furry friends, taking a flight isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world, and a little injection of humor such as this can go a long way to diffuse the anxiety.

Pigs Can Now Fly. It's True; Just Ask Pet Airways

All that stuff you've been putting off with the excuse "when pigs fly" now has to happen, as a pig has literally flown, albeit onboard an airplane ready and waiting for him and his special swine needs.
The airline that flew "Bosley" from Florida to New York in order to join a farm out in the Hamptons is, of course, Pet Airways and they're quite proud to be the first airline to offer white glove airline service to piggies.
And here we thought Pet Airways pretty much just stuck to dogs and cats, but no:

[Bosley's] journey is possible thanks to Pet Airways, the only airline that flies pets in the main cabin of the plane, not in cargo. The airline has flown over 7,000 dogs and cats since launching in 2009. Other Pawsengers™ have included birds, rats, and even a hermit crab—but Bosley will be the first pig to fly the pet-friendly skies.

OMG. A flying Hermit Crab! That's something we would have liked to see—a little crab all curled up in a little travel cage ready for the little airplane to come whisk its pampered, shell-covered butt to warmer climes. Maybe next time Pet Airways will fly a flamingo?
