Miami: You've Never Heard of Them, but ArkeFly Jets from Amsterdam to Florida

Amstel Light just not cutting it anymore? If you need a dose of the stronger brew, or another of Amsterdam's unique offerings, there's now a new way to get to the Netherlands from Florida. On June 24, Dutch airline ArkeFly launched a non-stop service between Amsterdam and Orlando. SoFla gets a piece of the action, too, with the flight continuing on to Miami International before flying non-stop back to Amsterdam.

The new routes, which will operate Mondays and Fridays, make ArkeFly the only Dutch airline to offer non-stop service to Orlando and Miami.

Two Airport Flashmobs Shock Travelers with Holiday Cheer

Tis the season for back-ups at airport check-in desks and clogs at security, but never did we think that an airline would encourage such crowding during the prime holiday travel season. But then, Air Canada is a little different, hm? A few days ago, at Vancouver International Airport, 60 dancers joined together to form an Air Canada-sponsored flashmob.

The cute little event, which appears to have gone down during a slow evening period at the airport (thank god), involved young people donning Santa hats and going all out in dancing to a live rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

Meanwhile, at Orlando International Airport, another flashmob was delighting travelers, but this time with their voice:

It was an AirTran flight, this I remember because my mom had asked the flight attendant if they had wing pins to give away to kids, since—you see—it was my first flight, after all. The FA replied that they didn't have those things on AirTran. I was probably bummed for all of a few seconds however, since shortly after that, the plane surged forward for take-off and I felt that sweet force that pushes you back into your seat. Plus I had other things to think about, like the fact that I was heading to Walt Disney World on a Florida vacation.

Iceland Express Will Get You from NYC to Europe for $399 Total

Believe it or not, it's already been since the beginning of June that low-cost airline Iceland Express began flying between Newark-Liberty International and Iceland's Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport. The route has done well for them and they're extending the seasonal service through the end of October, as well as throwing in a totally new route—Orlando to Reykjavik—specially for the month of October, but we're guessing it'll return for summer 2011. The Orlando flights begin October 2 and end October 26, chiefly for Icelanders to get a last bit of sun.

If you're looking to squeeze in a last taste of Europe in summer, the airline is also throwing a huge sale on flights from New York to their European mainland destinations. For $399, taxes included, you can get from NYC to Copenhagen (we found $399 for a Sept 6 departure, Sept 13 return), London-Gatwick ($399 for Sept 2 departure, Sept 6 return), and Luxembourg (Sept 1 departure, Sept 9 return). Surf around for more dates, but remember not to try later than October since the airline will leave NYC for the winter.

Orlando: Rosetta Stone Busts into the Airport Vending Machine Game

We've seen vending machines at airports peddling everything from Kosher food to gold bars, and yet this Rosetta Stone vending machine at Orlando International Airport completely took us by surprise last weekend.

It makes perfect sense to be selling the expensive (but comprehensive) language learning courses at an airport, but why in the terminal with the flights from Southwest and Jetblue? They aren't exactly flying to Europe or Asia or anything. That said, these are selling as when we passed back by this machine on our flight out of MCO, we noticed that a few more languages had sold out.

Where To Spot the Airbus A380

Airbus is tooling around North America in another of its publicity-loving A380s. And everyone from die-hard plane-spotter to curious soccer dad is out to catch a glimpse of the bird.

After flying into MCO--an airport that won't likely see another A380 anytime soon--the super-jumbo is headed back to France after a stop in Montreal. But don't despair, Minnesota! Your date with the Airbus starts the night of October 26 and goes until the next morning. Just remember: No fooling around!
