Will Ferrell Takes On Bear Grylls in Swedish Hinterland

We've never fully recovered from the 2007 scandal involving Bear Grylls, host of Man vs. Wild, who was accused of staging some of his wilderness survival adventures. But the guest apperance of Will Ferrell might just be the Neosporin that we need.
Will is set to appear on an episode of the Discovery Channel show in early June in which he and Bear spent two days exploring the Swedish hinterland. The hinterland, as we just learned, is pretty much no-man's land and in Sweden that involves a lot of ice and snow.

Armed with only the most basic survival equipment, Grylls took Ferrell through the paces of real life survival in the ice-bound mountain and glacier ranges in the far north of Sweden.
Typical of the series, Grylls showed the actor -- who took part in the show to promote his upcoming adventure comedy, Land of the Lost -- what it takes to find food in the forests. They even drink their own urine and bite into reindeer eyeballs.

The two also tandem-abseiled off a helicopter, rappelled down frozen waterfalls and camped out overnight in the freezing temperatures. While Will did the stint as part of a "Land of the Lost" promotion, we're wondering if his Swedish wife Viveca had any say in the locale.
Related Stories:
· Will Ferrell Drinks His Own Urine on Man vs. Wild Adventure [Us Weekly]
· Man vs. Wild Reality Check [Jaunted]

New York: Will Ferrell Brings Back Bush Impression in "You're Welcome America"

Jaunted's Ellen managed to score a ticket to the new Will Ferrell show on Broadway while it's still in previews. Here's her review.

One of the first entries on the blog at WhiteHouse.gov yesterday was President Barack Obama's call for "A National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation" on the occasion of his inauguration. As Will Ferrell took the stage last night at the Cort Theatre and, as former President George W. Bush, basked in what he mistook for enthusiasm about his two terms, we wondered if it was such a good idea to go back into the past.
Oh, there's time to heal later. "You're Welcome America" is a ribald wound-salter and, in terms of the Bush legacy, everything Oliver Stone's tepid "W." wasn't. The largely solo show incorporates several of Ferrell's "SNL" impersonations as Bush, including the classic brush-clearing moment, but sandwiches it in between acres of new material -- like a slideshow rundown of the Bush administration's co-conspirators, none of whom come out remotely well. (But if anyone's going to sue it'll be Condoleezza Rice.)
"You're Welcome America" isn't perfect -- the five or so transitions where Ferrell isn't onstage are a drag despite the antics of his pet Secret Service agent (Patrick Ferrell). But if you're a fan, it's definitely worth your while. After all, Ferrell rarely performs live; he made an exception for last year's Funny or Die Tour, but that played to Radio City-sized crowds. At the end of the night, we were really ready to put the Bush years behind us.
Currently in previews; opens February 5, running through March 15. Prices range from $61.50-$116.50. If you go for the cheap balcony seats, try to get in the first four rows so you'll be able to see the video screens.
Related Stories:
· Last Chance For Several Mainstage Hits This Month [Jaunted]
· Lest We Forget: Ferrell Keeps W. But this year, the stands have been full every day with A-listers like Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell and Common. Queens has never had it so good.
For further celeb-spotting, the US Open website has a day-by-day gallery of famous faces who have attended matches this year.
Paris: Sneaky Travel: Will Ferrell's Honeymoon Prank

Will Ferrell allegedly cooked up a scheme to make sure his friend, a struggling actor, had a deluxe honeymoon. He disguised his plan with the help of the man's agent, who called to send him and his new bride to Paris for a week for an audition that never happened--and then on to Rome, where the audition again failed to happen while the couple was enjoying a week-long Roman holiday.
Was he pissed when he found out he didn't have a job? Maybe, but hey, free honeymoon, right?
It was sure nice of Will, but what about the rest of us? No matter how much you travel, your honeymoon can be a bear to plan--and pay for. Whether your parents or guests are chipping in, or you're buying it yourself, you fantasize about only having one honeymoon so you want to make it right.
One easy way to trim the fat without sacrificing? Travel somewhere off-season. Europe is good right now, despite the Euro, but the Caribbean is better next fall. Check out this list of off-season destinations to help you plan. Oh, and congrats on the wedding, Will Ferrell's friend!
Related Stories:
· Honeymoons coverage [Jaunted]
· Celeb Travel coverage [Jaunted]

Flint: Movie Set Travel: Semi-Pro

Get out your sweatbands and tube socks. You'll need them for this week's pick, "Semi Pro," starring one of our faves, Will Ferrell. He plays the owner, promoter, coach, and star player of the Flint Michigan Tropics of the American Basketball Association.
Trouble arises when the NBA decides it's going to incorporate the best teams of the ABA and forgo all the rest. The Flint Tropics isn't one of the best and Ferrell decides to hire soon-to-be retiree Monix (Woody Harrelson) to revive things. You can imagine the hilarity that ensues.
This one was actually filmed in Flint and in that vein we offer you some great things to check out in Car Town USA:
Where To Stay: Avon House B&B Surprised? We were too. Flint does have a charming little B&B where you can spend the night for under $100. Built in 1893 by the Salisbury family, the Avon is within walking distance to downtown and has three bedrooms, all done up Victorian style.
Where To Eat: Red Rooster Makuchs This is a town favorite and one of the more upscale dining options. Try the Michigan whitefish--let us know if it's different than other whitefish. Reservations are recommended.
Where To See: Motor Cities National Heritage Museum Ok, this is actually in Detroit (nearby) but is actually part of the National Parks Department because it holds such an important place in US history. Tour the area where the first Ford was built or see the actual homes of the original auto barons. Hit up the Buick research center to see early car artifacts. Gearheads will be right at home.
Related Stories:
· Michigan Travel coverage [Jaunted]
· Movie Set Travel coverage [Jaunted]
