Tokyo: Zac and Vanessa Arrive To Save Japanese Tourism

Step aside, Super World Travelers! Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens celebrated the Japanese premiere of "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" at Tokyo's Prince Hotel just days after arriving, like the Pitt-Jolie clan, at Narita International Airport.

Will all this celebrity publicity boost Japan's ailing tourism industry? The number of foreign visitors to the island plummeted 24 percent last December alone, despite a 0.1 percent increase for 2008 overall.

Locally, 2009 started with a bang as over 99 million people celebrated the New Year at Shinto shrines all over Japan, some undoubtedly to offer prayers for economic success this year. And a just-announced joint tourism initiative with Hong Kong should bolster flagging numbers later on in the year. But if Japan's looking for spokeskids, they could do worse than the Efron-Hudgens team. After all, if they're not employed by Disney any more, the kids might appreciate the work.

Los Angeles: Apply The Ryanair Rule To Your Favorite Stars

Last week Ryanair announced it would start fining passengers for taking more than one carry-on bag aboard. We don't imagine a lot of A-listers are taking Europe's cheapest airline, but if they did, who would rise to the challenge and who would be digging in their pockets for that �30 ($42) fee?

Anne Hathaway conquers the clutter with one tiny purse -- even her man-friend has a bigger bag! Kate Winslet's elegant handbag makes it easy for her to sign autographs for her fans and talk on her phone at LAX. Vanessa Hudgens looks a little weighted down by her huge bag, but she managed to keep it to one -- for an LAX-Tokyo flight, nonetheless!

But not every celeb can get down to that one bag. Bar Refaeli's pair of a blue purse and roller makes her a light packer, but a heavy overhead-bin user. Hayden Panettiere's super-chic belted bag (complete with seatbelt buckle) wouldn't fool a gate agent into thinking she was only toting a purse. And Jessica Simpson's second piece can't be checked -- she'd be paying a fat fine for her Maltipoo Daisy.

Sydney: The Journey Never Ends

"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" has already been out for a few weeks here in the US (including two weeks at the top of the box office), but that doesn't mean Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens get a break. Their international fans calling, the once-lightfooted couple trudges through security at LAX this weekend en route to Australia, where the movie is scheduled to open December 4.

Playing travel agent for a second, it's likely the kids are skipping Russia, Romania and Turkey where the movie opens this Friday. We're thinking they're headed to South America next since the flick opens in Chile next week and Argentina and Venezuela the week after. If they go back to Europe at all, it'll be the Netherlands, where fans wait for their filmed revelations on December 10. And don't forget about Japan! Maybe that trip can be like a "High School Reunion" in February.

Salt Lake City: Missed Connections in Salt Lake City: High School Musical 3 Edition

Why are we so obsessed with "High School Musical: Senior Year"? We're not really sure, especially since we weren't one of the crazy children who ordered advance tickets weeks in advance.

Certainly the adorable moppets in the Disney juggernaut would never stoop to posting about that cute boy from the school play on Craigslist--and they'd be even less inclined to do it in scrubbed-clean Salt Lake City--but the rest of us, well, we're all in this together:

It's hard to grow up: "High School Musical: Senior Year" is in theaters everywhere and Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens may never play teenagers again. (Or at least, not teens in love; the trailer for Efron's next flick "17 Again," in which he plays a younger version of Matthew Perry, hit the Internets this week.)

Nikki Finke of LA Weekly predicts HSM3 will top $40 million to win the box office this weekend against "Saw 18: Sharpening the Saw" and "Angelina Jolie Loves Babies and Hats." "This is why serious screenwriters weep," Finke says of Disney's record-breaking fall and the success of "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."

As they trudge to their private car from baggage claim at LAX, Efron and Hudgens probably aren't thinking about putting on an elaborate show for the paparazzi to celebrate the love of their characters Troy and Gabriella. They've been living out of a suitcase for two weeks in service to the almighty Disney, and now it's time to go home and make some Movies of the Week. Such a spectacle will not be seen again--at least for the next three weeks. Then "Twilight" opens. Thank God, something new to obsess over.

Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu (destined to be voted Most Changed from the original "High School Musical") and Ashley Tisdale hold up celebratory cookies at the German premiere of "High School Musical: Senior Year" in Munich over the weekend. Director Kenny Ortega, whose biggest credit before helming the series was creating the beloved box-office bomb "Newsies," also walked the red carpet with them (but he was cookie-less).

The premiere was held at the Math�ser Filmpalast which later this month will host the domestic premiere of "Hellboy 2" and the new James Bond flick, "Ein Quantum Trost."

Sounds so much better than "Quantum of Solace," right?

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron board a private jet to France to promote their forthcoming movie, "High School Musical 3."

France is just one of several countries which will see HSM3 before we will, but only by a little. So if you're a very wealthy teen with access to a private jet, fly to France, the UK, Egypt or the Philippines to catch its release on October 22.

That way you can brag to all your friends on return that you were the first to find out whether Troy and Gabriella go through with the experiment to clone each other so they never have to be apart. (Spoiler?)
