George Clooney set a thousand imagined romantic comedies in motion when he and his girlfriend went on vacation to Rome this week. The actor, who may be up for a Golden Globe for his role in the legal thriller "Michael Clayton," wasn't around to see squeeze Sarah Larson throw coins in the Trevi Fountain, but he took her out for a romantic dinner later that night.

Clooney's next movie, in which he acted and which he also co-produced and directed, is the '30s football picture "Leatherheads," co-starring John Krasinski and fellow Oscar winner Renee Zellweger.

Fires are still burning throughout Southern California, much to the dismay of the celebs who hang out in Malibu. Beach houses are burning, including the LG House that this summer hosted, among others, Rumer Willis, Hayden Panettiere and the girls of The Hills. We haven't heard anything yet about the fate of the Polaroid Beach House.

But there's stuff ablaze beyond SoCal. Police have tracked down the right-wing "vandal" who filled the Trevi Fountain with red dye, and a tomato juice spill gummed up the works at New York's LaGuardia Airport.

Rome: Where to Swim Nude in Rome

Summer's coming, and it's getting hot in Rome. So hot, in fact, that even one of the city's most famous tourist attractions, the Trevi Fountain, is no longer safe. Yesterday a local office worker gave tourists and their cameras something different to enjoy:

The 38-year-old identified only as Roberta stunned onlookers by stripping out of her clothes and swimming several lengths of the fountain before stretching out on the marble plinth at the base of a statue of Neptune.

While she could've been hit with a fine of nearly $150, or hit with one of the many coins constantly thrown into the fountain, police simply gave her a warning and let the embarrassment of explaining the lunchtime frolic to her boss, plus having photos plastered across the media, be punishment enough.
