In October 2010, I set out to travel the world for a year. I packed as little as I could without sacrificing safety, and over the course of my travels I ended up in places that ranged from -40F in the winter (Mongolia) to 120F in the summer (India). Everything worked out. I bought extra layers really cheaply—usually around $25 for a thick jacket—and donated them when I no longer needed them.

Everything fits into a carry-on sized backpack and weighs ~25lbs, including the camera, which alone weighs 6.5 lbs.

Everything I carry for travel fits into my ScotteVest jacket. I sit on the board of ScotteVest and do own a stake in their company, so I'm making that clear up front. That said, though, I love, love, love my vest; it acts as another carry-on for me, and means that I don't have to carry a backpack.

So, staring at everything in it from above, on the left, we have:
· Band-aids on the sleeve. They fit into the sleeve pocket. You never know when you're going to need a band-aid. (Especially from someone who picks at his cuticles when he's nervous or stressed).

If I'm going to be away for a week or less, I rely on my Filson wheeled carry-on. It holds everything and still manages to make me feel like the chicest traveler in the airport (or train station.)

I'm always with at least one laptop, usually a Mac and a PC, and though I work in the digital division, I'll use any computer until its last breath, and then some. This VAIO has been rebuilt a few times, but I just won't let it go.

The mask is from the NYC immersive experience "Sleep No More," which I finally checked out last week after my photog friend, Travis Commeau, and celeb blogger buddy, Trent Venagas, had seen it multiple times with rave reviews. I hear Punchdrunk, the producers, are toying with a travel experience. I'm in!

Flying domestic in Thailand through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport? You've got one choice for grabbing some food in the terminal, and we're not kidding. It's McDonald's.

We spotted this airport food nook after stepping off a Bangkok Airways flight into BKK from HKT (Phuket) last week, and were shocked by their less than appetizing catchphrase: "The Only Restaurant in Domestic." Well, that may be right but the threat of it doesn't mean that we're going to give into a burger and McDs sundae when we're supposedly in the capital of awesome food. Where's the Pad Thai to go, at the very least?!

Winter accessories: I am a new expat to Norway and if there is one thing I have learned since relocating here, it is that one can always assume the inside of the plane will reflect the temperature outside...and in my part of the world, that means it will be frigid! A scarf and gloves are always a necessity when traveling around Scandinavia (and a scarf can also transition to a pillow, which is a double bonus!)
