Tweet of the Week: Get a (Travel) Job

We love Tuesdays. Why, you ask? Because the day brings many travel tips and quips as "Travel Tuesday" on Twitter, and we're going to share our favorite with you. Got an avid travel twitterer we should follow? Let us know.
Getting a great travel job seems so difficult to do. When an airline is hiring for anything other than ramp jobs, it's like the Harvest Moon or something, which is why we are really loving the fact that not only did Southwest Airlines tweet a job opening today, but that it's for the position of Multi Media Manager. Ooo—that likely means reading lots of Twitter! And we bet you already do that now, right?
Clicking through to their careers page, we find that they're needing much more than just multi media peeps. They're also scouting around for a few good pilots (only accepting resumes through March 23!) and of course those ramp agents.
Dear airlines: it's okay to post your job openings every so often. People gots to work, and hey—if a side perk of the position is free travel—then you automatically already have our attention. And with SWA's track record of featuring employees in their TV commercial, you may soon be able to add a TV appearance to your resume.
Related Stories:
· @southwestair [Twitter]
· Twitter Travel [Jaunted]

And guess what—he has! Somehow.
Slater, who made headlines over the summer by cursing out passengers on his flight and then jumping out of the plane at JFK Airport via the inflatable evacuation slide (with two beers in hand), will be making some money working as the judge of the "Mile High Text Club" contest.
Southwest Airlines Might Be Hiring Pilots and Flight Attendants Any Day Now

The airline that hates fees is getting ready to hire a whole bunch of new crew members to serve drinks, review safety information, and to get that annoying guy in seat 10A to shut off his Blackberry. There are also new positions for those that prefer a better view and a snazzy hat, as the airline is also looking to hire some new pilots—it’s time to update those resumes!
As of now, Southwest Airlines is mainly hiring interns for the summer of 2011, but we’re thinking it’s only a matter of time before they open up the HR floodgates to welcome thousands of applications for pilot and flight attendant positions. Back in October Gary Kelly—airline CEO and Halloween expert—announced that that the airline will need around 200 new pilots and 300 new flight attendants in advance of the merger with <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/airtran"AirTran. The airline hasn’t hired for these positions since 2008, so it’s kind of a big deal if you’re looking for a job with one of the most profitable domestic carriers.
