Lo and Son's 'The O.G.' Is Our Favorite New Travel Companion

We love bags. But we're fussy. We've put countless different bags through the 'carry-on test', both domestically and for long-haul flights, but nothing had ever wowed us. Until we met The O.G.

We first spotted this stylish looking bag from family-owned brand Lo & Sons on one of our favorite travel sites, Jauntsetter, who were giving one away. Alas, we did not win and we also missed out on a limited-offer discount at the time.

Still, we coveted one. We loved all the interior pockets, the promise that it was super lightweight, and the fact that it is structured but not too big that we'd look like an Olsen twin carrying it.

Inevitably, we became obsessed with the idea that this could be The Bag That Would Solve All Our Problems, and watched the video of it in action on the Lo & Sons site over and over and over again.

If you like silence, better stay home. From people talking on their cell phones at the movies in Milan to the screech of wild birds in Queensland, travel can be one long "SHHHHH" for the impatient.

We've never held much interest in those noise-canceling headphones, but sometimes it seems worth the $60-$90 for a little peace and quiet. For the DIY types, Kip Kedesh's video (above) shows how to rig up your own 'phones for around $20 using construction-strength muffs.

Not handy at all? A recent CNet review picked out an $84 pair by JVC that work almost as well as those Bose beauties. Ahhh, the sound of silence.

Las Vegas: Some New Travel Gadgets Await At CES

If you're in Las Vegas this week and are wondering why there are so many pocket protectors around, it's because the annual Computer Electronics Show (CES) is taking place.

On Wednesday, geeks will descend on Las Vegas--some by car, most by plane and almost all of them filling up the city's lonely hotel rooms--for the world's largest consumer technology trade show. Here, companies will unveil their latest products, inventions and toys which will eventually be sold to the masses in 2009.

On the travel gear side, iGo--you know the company that sells like, a million different adapters and chargers for your laptops, cellphones and iPods--will show off their newest products for use on-the-go. The coolest one seems to be the iGo Laptop Charger which uses iGo Green Technology that reduces energy by thwarting "vampire power." (Yes, mention the word vampire and we're interested.)

Vampire power is the energy suckage that reduces your battery life even when a device is turned off or in stand-by mode. As anyone who travels frequently with a laptop knows, conserving battery power is all too important. Oh, the things we will do for an outlet. It's embarrassing actually.
