It's the fightin' borough! The "Real World: Brooklyn" extended trailer that hit The Internets today shows much conflict but little of its location. Looks like they've hired the Insert Drama Here "Hills" editors to shoot in the house for the series, premiering January 9.

We open with the housemates meeting each other... On the Coney Island boardwalk?! That's nowhere near their Red Hook loft, nor the Manhattan hangouts where the cast was spotted over the past few months. It must have been a pain in the binding contract for the newly arrived, glossy twentysomethings to have to drag their suitcases out to far south Brooklyn for a location shoot. No wonder Red Hook doesn't love them.

Brooklyn: Trailer Extols Glory Of Brooklyn, Youth

The last Real World season set in New York was taken off the air abruptly after 9/11. How will "Real World: Brooklyn" fare in 2009, when it is set to debut?

We've been tracking the show's filming for months, but OMG, how will it compete with this season of "Top Chef" and "Hills" spinoff "The City," not to mention fictional friends "Ugly Betty" and "Gossip Girl"? We hope Kate, Sarah, Bella, Devyn, Scott, Ryan, JD and Chet are ready for their close-ups. (Or at least the drunken fights which have characterized the last five seasons of the MTV workhorse, which debuted in New York in 1992.)

The production has already gotten massive buzz thanks to the myopic New York news media and its status as possibly the first reality-TV show to directly invoke hipsters and hipsterdom. If The Kids like it, expect to see way more closeted hipsters (we're thinking of Kenley on last season's "Project Runway") able to better reveal their true natures to the world. Then, Williamsburg residents will have to find themselves a new scene.

Brooklyn: Already Focusing on Future Punk-Rap Projects

We heard that the Real Worlders were hanging out with Brooklyn-based band Shiragirl earlier this fall, and it seems at least one cast member is seriously into the quartet: Devyn Simone got on stage with the group during its recent performance at CMJ.

The show was at The Trash Bar, not far from the last Real World-Shiragirl mashup at Public Assembly. Still, why all the gigs in Williamsburg? Are all the venues Red Hook really turning away the cast?

Newly engaged and de-nicknamed Jezebel editor Tracie Egan had a chance to catch up with some hula hooping Real Worlders on October 11, and, well, we'll let her tell it:

So this party was thrown by the co-worker of my BFF, both of whom work for Viacom. The loft was in this huge commercial space, replete with a multi-stall public bathroom on the first floor.
I was told that like 13 people live there, and I guess they supplement their income by throwing these parties and charging people a lot of money to get in.

And what of the cast?

It's been a bit since we've heard anything out of the "Real World: Brooklyn" kids, but that doesn't mean they've stopped kicking around their nabe. City-centric blog NewYorkology spied the cast at Red Hook's landmark grocery store:

"Real World: Brooklyn" kids filming in the Fairway parking lot... in the backseat of a car.

There you have it: Even when laying low, reality stars are trashy.

Brooklyn: The Nightlife Rock Stars of "Real World: Brooklyn"

Depending on your feelings about "The Real World: Brooklyn," the blogger behind Driven by Boredom is either the luckiest or sorriest guy on New York's nightlife scene this month.

After seeing cast member Chet Cannon canoodling with Whitney Thompson, he bumped into the reality show stars-in-the-making at another rock show, this time at Public Assembly in Williamsburg:

Once again "The Real World" has snuck into my life to see another friend's band. First it was Semi Precious Weapons and now its Shiragirl. This time I did some apologizing to the cast for the drama I may have caused them particularly Chet Cannon and Scott.
Chet wanted me to make it very clear that he is not engaged, and both of them know this sort of thing comes with the package of being on TV. When it is all over Chet is going to get a job in finance and Scott hopes to make it as an actor.

At least they were having fun in Brooklyn this time!

The cast members of "Real World: Brooklyn" have been spotted again in Manhattan, and a tipster sent us this report:

I was partying at Hawaiian Tropic on Saturday nite and guess who was there... None other then "Real World: Brooklyn!" They seem really cool. Someone I know was talking to them and T-Pain was also there.
