Just passing the torch! Current Bond Daniel Craig and heartthrob of moms everywhere Richard Gere have a man-to-man talk in the hottest celebrity vacation spot of this winter, St. Barts. Beyonce and Jay-Z were recently spotted there as well as Mariah Carey, Eddie Murphy and Jon Bon Jovi.

Gere and Craig may be sittin' pretty right now, but let's hope neither of them owns the boat they're on. The yacht industry slump began in December 2007, before most of us were acquainted with the R-word, making it difficult for owners to sell the boats they have. Since many boat buyers are upgrading from their previous boats, any downturn in price leads to a downturn in sales, and a vicious circle ensues. Even the luxury travel market isn't completely recession proof: By April yacht sales in the $200,000 to $800,000 range were already down 50 percent.

On the other hand, it's a great time to pick up a luxury yacht, in case you have a chunk of change sitting around. But what if next year's hot vacation spot is landlocked?

Around the world, the last New Year's Eve overpartiers are finally crawling into work--but not your favorite celebrities. We figure anyone on a beach this week is just rubbing it in, so let's examine the culprits:

"Heroes" costars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia walked along a beach in Bora Bora toward their private villa. Also in the Pacific, Kate Moss took her boyfriend Jamie Hince to Surin Beach on Phuket, where she once got married (in a non-binding ceremony) to ex Pete Doherty. Might history repeat itself?

Meanwhile, among those dipping their toes into the Atlantic were Amy Winehouse, who seemed not to leave her house in 2008 at all until this trip to St. Lucia. Jude Law stepped off the London set of "Sherlock Holmes" long enough to take his kids to Copacabana Beach in Rio. And the celebrity-ridden beaches of Cabo provided Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli with a beach holiday and Jennifer Aniston a potential respite from the rumors about her very Mayer Christmas. Must be nice! We're going to go put another sweater on.
