Uh oh—there's trouble on the trail as an Amazing Race star has been named in an investigation into illegal drug activity. The racer, who's a Rhode Island cop currently racing as part of the 16th season of the popular realty show, is only in for bumpy roads ahead as TMZ uncovers the details:

According to the Rhode Island State Police, Louie Stravato has been put on "desk duty" -- after his name came up in a "four month" investigation into a "large-scale" cocaine distribution operation.

The upside to all this is that Amazing Race is definitely not a live show, so it's not like the racers—and this cop—are out there in the world somewhere, where's he could be in danger of being ejected from the show. It's already been filmed, and thus you'll find Stravato actually on desk duty and not guzzling beer on the road in Hamburg, where we left off with Amazing Race this week.

Although we don't know if he and his teammate, another cop, were the ultimate winners, we can't help but wonder what would happen if they did win the million and then we implicated in this scandal. Would they have to return the money? We'll keep our ears to the ground for more news on this.

Everyone knows (or should know) that rule numero uno for boarding a flight is not to annoy or body check the flight attendants, because then you risk being kicked off the plane or just incurring their wrath throughout the flight. But apparently Dom Carter, news anchor for NY1 and recent subject of a domestic violence scandal, can't be bothered with clearing the aisle to make way for the flight attendants.

Dom was boarding a Delta flight from NY-LaGuardia to Kansas City on Saturday when he jostled a flight attendant, who then recognized him from the news, didn't appreciate the physical contact, and called the cops, saying "This man deliberately slammed into me, I want him off the plane!"

Who did what exactly we don't know, but we do know that Dom was kicked off the flight only to be apologized to by Delta staff and presented with an upgrade to first class, according to Gothamist. While Dom surely doesn't need his name in he news any more these past few weeks, the event seems to have turned out well for him. Still, we do not advocate bumping into flight crew in the hopes of scoring an upgrade similarly. Instead, we're still all about flattery.

It kinda sucks for the airlines that some of their highest-paying frequent flyers just aren't able to travel as often or as expensively anymore. Of course we aren't talking about business travelers, but scandalous governors, most recently South Carolina's adulterous Governor Sanford.

Sanford, who had always portrayed himself as a frugal conservative, is now facing a probe into his pricey travel habits, which extend beyond use of private planes to very costly international flights on commercial airliners. However, the Governor is using that old "they do it too!" argument, claiming that other governors have been similarly lax about traveling in coach class. There appears to be something of a scandal brewing in DC and several federal agencies might be blacklisting entire segments of the country, banning their employees from holding events in popular cities. Suffice it to say that the duly elected representatives of those areas are less than pleased:

Three Central Florida congressional representatives joined four colleagues in signing a letter to the U.S. General Accounting Office urging an investigation of allegations that some federal departments have Orlando, Las Vegas and other possible destinations on a no-meetings list ... the use of do-not-travel list that allegedly would rule out meetings in some cities, including Orlando, that are known as tourist destinations. The allegations started last winter when financial companies that received federal bailout money were criticized for holding corporate meetings in resort destinations.

It's not hard to imagine how these blacklists might be formed. After a bunch of bailed out banks got busted for throwing parties, the last thing the Department of Whatever needs is TMZ running a post headlined "DC Politicos Party During Two Day Vegas Bash." A Chilean fashion designer has discovered the secret to getting famous in his conservative country: offend the Catholic church with racy portrayals of its most venerated saint. Reuters introduces us to Ricardo Oyarzun, who has caused a major stir in Santiago and around the world with plans for a fashion show featuring scantily clad female models dressed up as the Virgin Mary. Oyarzun claims that the show - which includes halos, religious icons, and "ample, near-naked breasts" - is "inspired" by the Virgin Mary but not intended to specifically represent her. The church doesn't care for the distinction, decrying the presentation of Mary as "an object of consumption." And a conservative group tried - and failed - to stop the fashion show at a Santiago nightclub, providing that much more publicity for the event. As with all such scandals, this one would have probably gone away quickly had people not made such a big deal about it. But when you give newspaper editors around the world a newsworthy excuse to use "busty virgin" in a headline, I guess the explosion of coverage is inevitable.
