Tybee Island: Follow Along with Miley Cyrus' 'The Last Song' Down in Georgia

Miley Cyrus and real life beau Liam Hemsworth spent most of last summer filming The Last Song in Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia. The movie, which is currently in theaters, is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name about a teen who is shipped off to live with her father after having difficulty with her parents' divorce. Miley's performance didn't win over any critics, but the movie's location did win us.

In the film, Miley's character lives in the Adams Cottage on the southern end of Tybee Island. For those who aren't lucky enough to have an island home, DeSoto Beach Hotel on Tybee is the next best thing. DeSoto is the only beachfront hotel on the island. Every room has free WiFi, a balcony, in suite kitchettes with a microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker. DeSoto Beach Hotel opens for the season on May 26, with rates starting at $129.

Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade

The United State's biggest and oldest St. Patrick's Day celebration takes place on the streets of New York, but there are tons of other cities that throw similarly huge parades, complete with floats, bagpipes and tons of revelers decked out in green. It just goes to show that you don't always have to jump the Atlantic Ocean to celebrate St. Patrick's Day properly in Ireland; in fact, some US cities make a bigger deal out of the holiday than the homeland does, and we've found the Top 3.

Savannah: Miley Cyrus Heads to Savannah for Next Film

Miley Cyrus may be having the best week ever. Not only did “Hannah Montana” earn $34 million over the weekend but she also recently signed onto her next Disney film, “The Last Song”, written by Nicholas Sparks specifically for her.

After contending with North Carolina for "The Last Song", Savannah, Georgia has announced it will be the location for the movie which begins filming this summer. Savannah has hosted several movies already including "Forest Gump" and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".
