Columbia: Do Some Actual Running on a Runway Next Saturday in South Carolina

New York: Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Jog JFK's Longest Runway at the 2011 Runway Run

What's a runway for other than running?! Oh, right. Launching airplanes into the sky and stuff. But not this weekend!
This Sunday, April 10, the annual JFK Runway Run 2011 brings thousands of people out to New York's John F. Kennedy International for a reason other than catching flights. The Runway Run is actually a full-fledged 5K race, a portion of which includes running (or walking, your choice) on the longest runway at JFK, while aircraft are re-routed to land on a different runway during the race.
It's too late to register online, but those who can get their butts out of bed and motivated early Sunday morning and out to Building 14 at JFK (sounds mysterious) can sign up on-site for $25 per person, or $12 if you're a student with valid ID. Check in and registration happens from 7:30am to 8:30am, with the race shotgun popping off promptly at 9am.
It's open to "all runners, all age groups--walkers welcomed," and we may or may not see you there... *wink*
[Photo: Official Site]
