New York: NYC Will Become Deadhead Mecca In March For Grateful Dead Exhibit

Deadheads, book your New York City vacation now, as the New York Historical Society has announced that in March 2010, they will mount an exhibition of the Grateful Dead Archive. It will be the largest exhibition of its kind ever, and is sure to have fans breaking out their Jerry Garcia-brand ties for the occasion.
According to the official description, "Grateful Dead: Now Playing at The New York Historical Society", as the exhibitions is called, "will chronicle the history of the Grateful Dead, its music, and phenomenal longevity through an array of original art and documents related to the band, its members, performances, and productions." If you've been a hardcore fan for years, be sure to look closely at the piles of fan mail that will be exhibited, just in case you ever wondered why Phil Lesh never responded to your sincere letter asking him to play at your prom.

Cleveland: Museum Travel: Cleveland Rocks Less Than New York Sketch

So much for all the little kids growing up on the skids: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Cleveland, Ohio institution, is expanding to New York City and Las Vegas in a de facto admission that Cleveland does not, in fact, rock.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to announce the creation of the New York annex to the Hall of Fame with pals Billy Joel and Clive Davis. But the company responsible for the move, Running Subway Productions, is affiliated with Premiere Productions, the outfit recently forced to settle with the New York State Attorney General over its South Street Seaport show, "Bodies... The Exhibition."
"Bodies" is still open for business at South Street even after it was forced to disclose to its visitors that its human remains are probably the products of torture and execution in Chinese prisons. According to Running Subway's website, that's supposed to "enlighten, empower, fascinate, and inspire" visitors.
While the new rock museum's full contents have not been announced, planned New York artifacts will include a Chevrolet once owned by Bruuuuuce Springsteen and some remnants from the demolition of CBGB. The Vegas annex, we suspect, will focus more on entertainers who have drifted to Sin City in their later years. Was that sparkly jumpsuit obtained under duress?
Related Stories:
· Rock on, New York!
New York City: Paul Stanley Will Still Rock And Roll All Night At Fantasy Camp

Earlier today a tipster informed us that despite recent reports of heart problems, KISS rocker Paul Stanley will still perform at Rock `n Roll Fantasy Camp in New York City over Labor Day weekend.

My heart is in great shape, and the speed it can sustain is proof! I will be reporting to Fantasy Camp primed, pumped and ready to rock out.

No truth to the rumor that after releasing this statement he broke into a spontaneous, full body moon boot dance and belted out the following quote about his heart:

She's a dancer; a romancer I'm a Capricorn, she's a Cancer. She saw my picture in a music magazine.

Ted Nugent, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Bruce Kulick, also of KISS will all be shredding at Camp Rock with Paul. As part of the experience campers perform live at BB King's in Times Square and write and record their own original song at Sirius Satellite studios.
[Photo: barb toy photo, we added the hairy chest shot]
