Jaunted tipster Mary Kay spotted this R2D2 mailbox not far from home in Buffalo, New York. Right across the street from the University at Buffalo, these days this postal unit should be fielding plenty of desperate cries to mom and dad to send more money for "books".
Mary Kay's son is a major Star Wars fan, so even though these mailboxes are on the way out she wanted to get this one on the map. We're hoping to spy a few more before they disappear.
Jaunted tipster James found the R2D2 mailbox in Jackson Mississipi. Who knew R2 was into taking in some gospel music down by the Pearl River, or maybe the droid hit a blues bar. There are plenty of Mississippi blues events for R2 to check out this month.
He does look quite lonely sitting on the side of the road in Jackson, but at least he has his little blue postal friends to keep him company.
R2 is showing up everywhere this summer.
Jaunted tipster Lyla was sauntering around Port Jefferson when she spotted an R2 unit of the mailbox variety on Main Street, struck a pose, captured it digitally and sent it in.
Port Jefferson is on the North Shore of Long Island and P.T. Barnum once owned land here, which he intended to use as the home base for his circus. The town put a stop to that and now a different kind of circus hits Long Island every summer.
No idea of R2 has a time share somewhere on the Island.
Jaunted tipster Kathleen posed with a R2 mailbox just outside the Circuit District Courthouse on Main Street in Lexington Kentucky this past weekend.
This R2 mail unit was spotted outside the courthouse but there is no word on whether or not any charges were filed.
Over the holiday week, Jaunted tipster Paul spotted a R2 mailbox just north of Bowling Green Park in Manhattan and snapped a photo.
This R2 mail unit was spotted hanging out with Manhattan's Charging Bull sculpture. The sculpture, which was created following the 1987 stock market crash as a symbol of unyielding belief in capitalism, depicts a anatomically correct bull charging up Broadway.
It is said that many Wall Street traders fondle the bull's balls every morning before the opening bell, for good luck of course. Turns out, tourists like the bull, and his balls, just as much as R2D2 and the I-bankers. Scroll down and check out this video of tourists posing with one of New York's most photographed landmarks.
Jaunted tipsters added a couple new entries to our R2 mailbox map this week.
First we find out that R2 has been spotted at Disney's MGM. No shocker there, since Disney is running the Star Wars Weekends through June.
However, R2 turning up in Salt Lake City, now that surprised us. Man that little droid gets around. Keep 'em coming and we will keep mapping 'em.
