Looks like the rumors of R2D2's postal death have been greatly exaggerated.

This past weekend we received our two favorite R2D2 mailbox spottings to date-- Alaska and Hawaii.

Jaunted tipster Scott, in Hawaii, tells us he suspects at least three droid mail units in the Aloha state, the one he submitted, one in Waikiki, and one on Maui. Meanwhile, up on America's very own planet Hoth, a couple of rowdy storm troopers took a great shot of them with their captured R2 unit.

The lesson here, aside from the fact that it snows in Alaska in May, is that the game is still afoot. So get out there and find your local droid mail drop and send it in.

The USPS Star Wars stamp promo ends this Friday, and with just a couple days of voting left, somehow the Star Wars scene that inspired this R2 mailbox photo is only in third place.

Will the R2D2 mailboxes disappear from American street corners once this promo ends? More than likely, so get back out there before the end of hte week and locate more of the 380 R2 units spread across the U.S., snap a photo, send it our way and we will add it to the R2D2 USPS Mailbox Map.

Looks like the City of Fountains has their little R2 unit. A Jaunted tipster sent in this photo from the Kansas City streets. As an added touch, Dominic donned a "Vader Was Framed" shirt. It is the little things people.

Nope. Don't worry young Jedi, the R2D2 Mailbox takeover is still going strong. The USPS Star Wars stamp promotion doesn't even hit stores until May 25th. Besides we have photographic proof that there are still plenty of R2D2 mailboxes around.

As proof of life, we offer our favorite droid mail to date, which arrived in our inbox earlier this week. The above R2 pic, taken in Anaheim, CA, is a stunning photo, don't you think?

That said, it is time to get back out there and locate more of the 380 R2 units spread across the U.S., snap a photo and send it our way.

Doesn't this scene, outside the Museum of Science in Boston, MA, almost look like a two droid line up on Tatooine. These two droids are just waiting for Uncle Owen and Luke to give 'em the once over.
