Los Angeles: Get One Final Oscars Fix with a Tour of the Kodak Theatre

There won’t be any famous faces or thankfully any hosts—was it just us, or were Franco and Hathaway just awful?—but there are plenty of the golden statues.
The theatre is still hard at work cleaning things up after all of the weekend’s festivities, so you have to wait to take your tour until this Saturday. Once the tours open back up, you can expect a 30-minute tour through the facility where you can stop to in the George Eastman VIP Room and other spots where the in-crowd hangs out before and after the show. If you’re lucky they might even let you walk out onto the stage, but just remember not to start in with your acceptance speech.

The comprehensive three-hour tour (Wednesdays only) takes you to the house where the pioneering politician lived, his campaign headquarters, through City Hall and to Milk's final resting place, along the way taking in the sights of the colorful Castro neighborhood, where much of the gay rights movement was born.
At $55, the price seems a little steep for a walking tour, although that includes admission to the GLBT Historical Society and its new exhibit about the Castro.
· Cruisin' the Castro [Official Site]
· "Milk" Reminds Us To Salute The Castro [Jaunted]
· 'Slumdog Millionaire' Tour: Effective or Exploitative? [Jaunted]
Photo: [magerleague]

Boston: Martin Scorsese, The Departed Oscar Victory Tour Guide

On Set Photo at the Charlestown Navy Yard, June 2005
The Departed was a good movie, probably not Martin Scorsese's best--the man made Taxi Driver and Goodfellas you know--but none of that matters now because The Departed was voted the year's best picture, and Scorsese best director. The movie was filmed in Southie and Chucktown (South Boston and Charlestown) and in honor of the pictures Academy Award, we have thrown together a mini-movie set tour guide of Charlestown, where Jack Nicholson's character made his fictional home, and also where the cast and crew made their actual home back in the summer of 2005. Enjoy.
:: The Departed Quick Tour Guide ::
Frank Costello: [while eating crab] Do you know John Lennon? Billy Costigan: Yeah, sure, he was the president before Lincoln. Frank Costello: Lennon said, "I'm an artist. You give me a fucking tuba, I'll get you something out of it.
Where Frank Costello Would Eat:
Olive's
An upscale Todd English joint. A place to see and be seen dining with your significant other or having a power dinner. Even though Todd English joints are as common as Wolfgang Puck joints these days, this was one of the originals, and it still means something to eat there.
Side note: Donald Trump once rewarded his apprenti with an infamous dinner here that ended in Omarosa accusing some girl of racism.
Ellerby: [on Sullivan getting married] Marriage is an important part of getting ahead. It lets people know you're not a homo. A married guy seems more stable. People see the ring, they think, "At least somebody can stand the son of a bitch." Ladies see the ring, they know immediately that you must have some cash, and your cock must work.
Where Ellerby Would Eat:
Navy Yard Bistro
It is quite, small, and serves decent food in a really relaxed setting. Perfect place for a romantic like Ellerby.
Colin Sullivan: [to Madolyn] If we're not gonna make it, it's gotta be you that gets out, cause I'm not capable. I'm fucking Irish, I'll deal with something being wrong for the rest of my life.
Where Sullivan Would Drink:
New Sully's
Which means, Sully's on Main Street, not Union Street (the Union Street one is where Billy Costigan might show up). This place even serves pub food these days. There is a Golden Tee machine, which you know Sullivan would enjoy, plus the Sox are always on in the summer. This place is old school Townie, yet still friendly to newcomers--a rare combination.
