Why are we so obsessed with "High School Musical: Senior Year"? We're not really sure, especially since we weren't one of the crazy children who ordered advance tickets weeks in advance.
Certainly the adorable moppets in the Disney juggernaut would never stoop to posting about that cute boy from the school play on Craigslist--and they'd be even less inclined to do it in scrubbed-clean Salt Lake City--but the rest of us, well, we're all in this together:]]>
It's hard to grow up: "High School Musical: Senior Year" is in theaters everywhere and Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens may never play teenagers again. (Or at least, not teens in love; the trailer for Efron's next flick "17 Again," in which he plays a younger version of Matthew Perry, hit the Internets this week.)
Nikki Finke of LA Weekly predicts HSM3 will top $40 million to win the box office this weekend against "Saw 18: Sharpening the Saw" and "Angelina Jolie Loves Babies and Hats." "This is why serious screenwriters weep," Finke says of Disney's record-breaking fall and the success of "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."
As they trudge to their private car from baggage claim at LAX, Efron and Hudgens probably aren't thinking about putting on an elaborate show for the paparazzi to celebrate the love of their characters Troy and Gabriella. They've been living out of a suitcase for two weeks in service to the almighty Disney, and now it's time to go home and make some Movies of the Week. Such a spectacle will not be seen again--at least for the next three weeks. Then "Twilight" opens. Thank God, something new to obsess over.
