The United Nations released its list of the best countries to live in yesterday, and Norway came out on top for the sixth year in a row. Americans may be a bit miffed about coming in at eighth place, but for Norwegians, it's all about victory right now. Then again, we just read this, so you never know what another part of the population is thinking. Norway is notorious for its "culture of whining." Whining, church burning, etc.

The lowest ranked countries were Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso, Mali, Sierra Leone, and Niger. While travelers will certainly find those countries tough, Norway isn't a piece of cake for the traveler, either. It's expensive! Residents, however, enjoy high incomes and levels of education. As for the rest of the list, Iceland was named the second-best country to live in, followed by Australia, Ireland, Sweden, Canada, Japan, and the United States.
