It's That Time of the Year for the Barneys Warehouse Sale

So there's less than a week until Valentine's Day, you say? We say who cares, since the Barneys Warehouse Sale arrives first, and if you'd just as soon express your love to a pair of shoes as your loved one, then it's time to mobilize.
The Barneys Warehouse Sale hits LA starting on February 11, finally taking NYC on February 16. It's the real deal, elbowing-among-the-racks event, with designer clothing, shoes and some accessories at least 60% off. Most is, however, gloriously 75% off or more.
Believe it or not, many foreigners actually fly in for the NY sale; it's legendary. This is why Barneys sale workers hand out garbage bags to hold your potential purchases, because this is the sale where everyone stocks up on labels for the year. Some examples for women: tons of Lanvin, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Christopher Kane, Jil Sander and the odd Rodarte here and there. For men, it's a range of your wildest dreams, including Dior Homme, Prada (Prada for everyone), Alexander McQueen, Woolrich, John Varvatos and Paul Smith. The pertinent details:

New York : The Best Spots for Spotting Models During New York Fashion Week

New York's semiannual Fashion Week has begun! Full daily schedules of runway shows will last through this weekend and well into next week, while the city enjoys the big spending of foreign fashion editors and industry heavyweights. But we can't forget about the models! With over a hundred shows happening, you can bet that a sea of beauty has just washed into NYC. Here are The Five Best Places for Model-Watching During NYC Fashion Week:
· The subway, specifically lines that touch the west side of Manhattan:
The trains to travel on, if you want to sit across from models clutching their iPad portfolios or show schedules, are the E, C and 1 trains. These travel closest to Lincoln Center, the fashion offices of the garment district, the west side galleries where parties and shows take place, the better hotels in Soho and Tribeca, and the photo studios of the far west side. The model spotting on these lines starts earliest of all, like 1.5 weeks before fashion week, as models swarm the city on appointments and fittings before the big event.

Or maybe you're heading out in business class on any of the other airlines that call JFK Terminal 4 home, among them Aer Lingus. After checking in for your flight but before heading through security, you'll be directed to chill in the Oasis Lounge on the mezzanine above the main hubbub of the terminal.
On your walk over to the lounge, you'll see the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse (don't get too jealous; it's going to be replaced by an even better Clubhouse soon) and you'll pass near the four prayer rooms of JFK.
New York : The Details on Tomorrow's Ticker Tape Parade for the NY Giants' Super Bowl Victory

In between all the commercials and snacking there was a pretty good football game last night, and when the final whistle was blown it was the New York Giants on top. They’re the Super Bowl champs—for the second time in four years—and now New York is ready to welcome their team home for a little bit of a party and parade. Mayor Bloomberg is putting the final touches on this and that, but we do know that the celebration is taking place on Tuesday.
Late last night New York City officials released the plans for the ticker tape parade, so if you’re going to call out sick tomorrow, start planting some subtle cues this afternoon at the office. All the fun will take place in Lower Manhattan, as the parade is scheduled to do its thing beginning at Battery Place and Washington Street around 11am. After that Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, and Jason Pierre-Paul will continue north up through the Canyon of Heroes towards Worth Street as they greet throngs of well wishers.

It's Official, Just Blame Your Airline Delay Squarely on New York City

The next time you’re stuck in the terminal—or on the tarmac—with nowhere to go, there’s now officially someone to blame for your delay and disturbance. It’s actually not a person but more of a place, as it’s New York City that’s likely the spot causing all of the trouble.
The New York Times looked into the causes behind a lot of these airport and airplane inconveniences, and they found that the city’s busy air traffic and multiple airports are the places to blame. There’s been different flight plans from the FAA and even less planes overall thanks to the dip in the economy, but that still hasn’t helped the congestion up in the skies above the greater metropolitan area. Apparently the city’s three major airports—along with the airport in Philadelphia—accounted for around 12 percent of all the country’s domestic flights, but those few flights created like half of all delays.

Ross had some nerve sitting in the middle of a busy hall at Houston-George Bush International's Terminal E for 30 minutes, capturing all this.
We love it for what it reveals about the average traveler on (mostly) Continental Airlines flights from IAH: the vast majority are solo travelers, with duos here and there.
