New York: The Top Three Valentine's Day Events For Singles in NYC

Valentine's Day is great, unless you're single and everyone is asking you what your big V-Day plans are. But don't fret, especially if you're in NYC, because we have a few a few singles-only events that will make your committed friends jealous.
Single Gal in the City, Melissa Braverman, recommends singles start their Valentine's Weekend off right at the popular Cuban restaurant Havana Central, 2911 Broadway, New York, NY. The restaurant is hosting a speed dating event on Friday, February 12th that is geared toward singles ages 25-45. Tickets cost $59.95, which includes tax, hors d’oeuvres and one Havana Central classic cocktail. To purchase, call 1-800-406-0832 or visit Fastlife.com.

New York: If You Could Only See One Broadway Musical Right Now, What Would It Be?

It's summer in New York and tourists are descending in droves, including us. Kind of. While we're here on a three-week tour to visit family in the Jerz, we've been spending quite a lot of time in the city. One thing we've yet to do however is see a Broadway musical.
As a kid, our school classes took regular field trips to NYC to take in Broadway shows and plays. (There are some advantages to growing up Bridge and Tunnel.) Later on in life, we worked in Times Square (not that kind of work) and we could see a show whenever we and our wallets felt like it. But now that we've moved away, seeing shows is not as easy as it once was. We're here for one more week and we can't decide which show to see. So we thought we'd ask you guys.

New York: NYC Gets Three Times the Water Taxi Fun This Summer

Is it just us, or does New York City get a new great place to drink outside every weekend? Following on the heels of the ever-expanding biergarten scene, New York's quirky Water Taxi Beach experiment is set to get three times bigger this summer.
If you haven't been yet, the original Water Taxi Beach is a strip of sand trucked in to make an artificial beach in Long Island City, Queens. This makeshift beach comes complete with picnic tables and a tiki bar, and is accessible by boat form Midtown Manhattan, giving ocean-starved office drones an easy option to pretend they're downing cold ones in South Beach.
