After passing City Hall, the area becomes the London you imagine from Charles Dickens—all knobbly cobblestones and narrow streets with tucked-away cafes. And then you cross the river to pass that bastion of medieval punnishment, the eerie Tower of London. And oh—what's that right there? It's a freaking Starbucks, right next to the former palace and royal prison, which dates back to the 1000s.
Seriously, Starbucks? Here?!
