Malaysia's Former Prime Minister Learns to Blog

The last we heard about the Malaysian prime minister, it was 2002 and he was the target of a murder plot arranged by the evil fashion designer Mugatu and nearly carried out by the loveable egomaniac Zoolander.
Now, we hear that the real-life guy is no pawn. If our mom's Facebook account and our grandfather's online dating habits aren't disturbing enough, we find out that former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is the hottest blogger in Malaysia. The 83-year-old Mohamad served as prime minister for 22 years until 2003. Interestingly, he uses the forum to express outrage for the press controls he implemented.
Posts range from wishing Hindus a Happy Deepavali from he and his wife to missives about why the current weak government will lead to the country's collapse. Old people, they'll say anything.
Related Stories:
· Mohamad's Blog [Official Site]
· Ex-leader Uses Blog to Needle Malaysia Government [IHT]

Kuala Lumpur: Ferris Wheel Travel: Eye on Malaysia Gets a New Home

Kuala Lumpur: Kuala Lumpur Is Hopping

Hip Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur is suddenly promoting their Hop-On Hop-Off bus service, although this government-sponsored scheme actually launched more than a year ago. The tourist bus works a circuit past 40 major sightseeing spots and shopping malls, and on one RM38 ticket ($12) you can use it for 24 hours, while RM65 ($20) gets you 48 hours.
Sometimes these buses are a good value; sometimes you'd do a lot better just taking cheap public transport around a city. The jury's still out on the KL version, though something caught our eye on the website that we haven't been able to verify yet: They mention having WiFi on board their buses.
If it's free and fast, then we're all for the KL Hop-On Hop-Off, except that we might do more hopping on than off to catch up on all our emails while we see the sights.
Related Stories:
· KL Hop-On Hop-Off [Official Site]
· Kuala Lumpur Travel coverage [Jaunted]
