Los Angeles: How To Get Tickets To The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

Craig Ferguson found himself in hot water last month after he taped an episode of The Late Late Show without an audience. The stunt was supposedly an homage to Tom Snyder, who always taped his show sans audience, but Radar Online thinks it has more to do with the fact that Craig pays people to fill seats in his studio. According to an insider, “They have 100 seats, of which 10 are reserved for house guests, and 30-40 members are through requests for tickets. The rest of the seats, about 50-60, are each paid for by the show. At around $20 per person, that’s almost $1,000 per hour-long taping, which is one expensive laugh machine.”
Though it sounds shocking that Craig would pay his audience, it's actually a common practice. Other talk shows, like Chelsey Lately, and game shows, like The Newly Wed Show, have been known to pay audience members in order to fill seats. If you want to get paid for sitting in an audience and occasionally clapping, there are always listings on Craigslist under "Talent" in Los Angeles, and most pay a flat rate of $50.
More ways to clap for money, after the jump.

Just six more friggin' shopping days 'till Christmas. Sorry to be the bearers of bad news, folks, but if your tree isn't yet surrounded by metallic-wrapped gifts, you're going to have to hop to it. In Los Angeles, we're steering clear of malls, especially after a psychotic trip to The Grove last night saw us almost being run over by the circling trolley.
This weekend, we're heading East to a neighborhood popular among Ray Ban and gourmet coffee aficionados: Silverlake. We've heard many a disgruntled Westside friend criticize the area for being impossibly hip, and that it is, but it's also charmingly eclectic, laid-back, and there's never a dearth of activity to speak of. On the stretch of Sunset Boulevard known as Sunset Junction, there are a healthy handful of stores to shop at for the vintage lover, barfly, and comic book fan in your life. Here's our Off-Rodeo Guide to shopping 'tha Junction, after the jump.

Santa Monica: Christmas Shopping For Your Favorite Traveler At Fred Segal Santa Monica

If you've heard the name Fred Segal before, it's probably because US Weekly mainstays have often been photographed emerging from the store with a signature red, white and blue shopping bag in hand. The West Hollywood outpost may be better for star sighting, but we prefer the Santa Monica store, which is broken up into several idiosyncratic boutiques.
High prices and pretentious salespeople often deter shoppers from stopping by retailers of Fred Segal's ilk, but we've never had that problem in Santa Monica. We were there last night for a charity event last night co-hosted by Rachel Leigh Cook, to which guests brought unwrapped presents for donation to Toys For Tots, and did a little impromptu research into holiday gifts for travelers.
See what we found, with pictures, after the jump.

CA: Smooth Sailing (er, Flying) From SFO to LAX Post Thankgiving

We're not sure if more travelers opted for the I-5 as predicted, but whatever the case, our trip in the opposite direction was just as uneventful.
This may have something to do with the fact that our flight home was on Monday evening, a full 24-hours after Thanksgiving weekend officially came to a close. The scene outside of SFO was quiet, and we caught a glimpse of some winter-themed projections on the main building.
Los Angeles: Live From The 405: Traffic Is So Far, So Good

And driving out of town before the holidays starts to fill us with anxiety the night before. But so far, so good on the 405.
We snapped this shot from the on-ramp from the 10 leading to the 405 and we're happy to report that we're all the way out in the valley with no problems. (Yes, we're using our Verizon Wireless card to file this story from the passenger seat.) Things may change when we hit the 5, which we'll then be cruising for most of the way up to Oakland.
The 5 is a crappy drive namely because its two lanes and it's just flat nothingness unless you get excited by driving by the massive cow patch and inhaling its smell. If we had more time, we'd take the scenic 101 which goes along the ocean. But sorry, turkey awaits. Oh and we just jinxed ourselves. Dammit we knew that would happen! Traffic is stop and go now.
